New Hanover Regional Medical Center in North Carolina, part of Novant Health integrated delivery network, begins phase one of deploying Biolog-id’s value-chain optimization solution

Preliminary deployment covers the management of Red Blood Cell (RBC) and Platelet (PLT) inventories in the central Blood Bank, as well as the Cardiovascular Operating Room.

Atlanta, GA (July 12th, 2022) – Biolog-id is completing the first stage of implementing its value-chain optimization solution at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina (NHRMC). With over 800 beds, NHRMC is one of the largest hospitals in Novant Health, a four-state integrated delivery network with over 2,300 physicians, 36,000 employees, and 700 locations, including 16 medical centers.

With a large inventory of RBCs and PLTs, New Hanover Regional Medical Center chose the Biolog-id solution to support inventory management excellence. The combination of digital visibility, real-time data, and advanced analytics will replace multiple manual processes, and improve the traceability and availability of blood components across the entire medical center.

“The scope of services offered by New Hanover Regional Medical Center, and across the Novant Health network, make blood-component inventory management particularly challenging,” said Matt Clark, Director of Sales at Biolog-id. “This complexity is exactly what the Biolog-id solution was designed for, and we were fortunate to work with leaders that were quick to identify the potential of our solution for their organization.”

Following the first implementation phase, several expansions are considered, including the utilization of the Biolog-id technology to replace several competitive point-of-care devices that failed to meet the expectations of the medical center’s team. Moreover, the Novant Health leadership is using this preliminary implementation to evaluate the optimal way to deploy the Biolog-id solution across multiple medical centers within the network.
